• her mother, Martha Rosemary Collins, was a traditional, submissive, christian housewife who married at 19 due to an unexpected pregnancy (and the innate need to please her aristocratic parents) She became a victim of domestic abuse by her alcoholic husband soon after the wedding, it started verbal, but escalated with time
• her father, Floyd Adain Lewis (welsh) moved to London when he was 21 to become the proud owner of a vintage record store on Denmark Street. He named it “Planet Music” and it was his baby, a dream come true (or so he thought), it was more stressful than he ever imagined. His rock and roll attitude and the business end of the shop were incompatible, and he turned to whiskey to avoid the work/the stress
• her parents met in Planet Music when she was 19 years old and he was 25, they conceived Diana’s older brother (Gavin) after only four months of dating and got married in hurry, before the baby was born. It was marriage set to fail, unhappy and abusive since day one
• her mother’s parents (Dr. and Mrs. Collins) were british aristocrats by birthright. They frowned upon the marriage, because of his humble origins, and they were not involved with their daughter’s family (except when they needed money in wich case they’d send it, via proxy). Martha was their only child
• her father’s parents (both welsh), were lower class, hard working, humble people. His father (Marvin Lewis), was a taxi driver and worked long hours, his mother (Sara Bowen Lewis) was a school cook by day, and a hospital cook by night. They had three sons together, including Floyd, but he died young of a heart attack (age 45) and she never remarried
