The story of Peritia, The Graphic Novel includes many characters, two of them being the heroes (Dinarah and Janus), ten more main characters, and a multitude of others.

The Heroes

The heroes of the story are the characters that are present in the story from beginning to end, and whose stories are told in greater detail, focusing on their struggles, development, and flourishing.

The heroes of Peritia are Dinarah and Janus. Dinarah is an English journalist who travels to Peritia to write a story for The Observer, and later also to assist with a documentary film about the implementation of a new settlement. Janus is the founder of Peritia, and leads the project for implementing the new settlement as well.

The Main Characters

There are ten main characters beside the two heroes:

Save The Cat! Character Sheet

Jessica Brody's book Save the Cat! Writes a Novel: The Last Book On Novel Writing You'll Ever Need outlines the following aspects of a character (Is my Hero story-worthy?):

  1. A Problem (or flaw that needs fixing)
    • Flaws start internally (from that metaphorical shard of glass) and manifest into external problems in your hero/character’s life.
    • How is this problem or flaw affecting your hero’s life/world?
    • What is causing this problem or flaw? What is the shard of glass? (psychoanalyse the Hero/Character)
  2. A Want (or goal that the hero/character is pursuing).
    • At the start of the novel, what does your hero/character want? What is their goal? (What do they think will fix their life?)
    • How has your hero been actively pursuing this goal?
    • Why haven’t they achieved this goal yet? (This roadblock can be internal, external, or both!)
  3. A Need (or life lesson to be learned) (What will really fix their life?)
